Round up the unusual suspects!
Final ‘On the Couch with Beck Lister’ show for 2026

What drives a desert-bound, 53 year old, stockman to swim the english channel and write a book? How might law and hip-hop combine one’s passions, and why does spoken word cabaret improve our wellbeing?

For her final “On the Couch” show for 2026, Beck Lister will be taking a deep dive into when and why the artistic urge can strike anyone, any time!

After two sell out shows at the Northcote Town Hall Arts Centre, “On the Couch with Beck Lister” returns to Studio One at 4pm on Sunday 6 September for another intimate afternoon of conversation, storytelling and live music.

Hosted by therapist and artist Beck Lister, the upcoming show features a unique line-up:

  • Brendan Cullen – Stockman, mental health speaker and author

  • Kieran Murray – Koori Lawyer and hip hop artist

  • Amy Bodossian – Critically acclaimed cabaret spoken-word icon, OCD ambassador and wellness-through-art mentor

Part chat show, part therapy session, “On the Couch” offers audiences an intimate dive into the minds, creative process and psyche of some of Australia’s most compelling artists, writers and thinkers.

“As an artist you can hold onto one or more loves in terms of what you do and make, yet I think many artists hold compromise - whether it be to multiple passions, to family, or to making a living. But that urge and drive is a fascinating and magnificent thing to consider and explore,” said Beck Lister.

Far from a traditional “in conversation” format, the show explores the emotional and psychological realities of creative life, from self-doubt and ambition to success, failure, ego and identity.

Known for its warmth, candour and vulnerability, “On the Couch” has built a loyal following among audiences seeking something more meaningful than a standard panel discussion or artist interview.

“These shows are intentionally not recorded. I want audiences to experience the intimacy and connection that can only happen in the room. It feels like a peek behind the curtain,” said Beck Lister.
